Fr. Virgil Cordano Center is a collaborative ministry of the Franciscan Friars at the Old Mission of Santa Barbara and the Daughters of Charity at St. Vincent's that is rooted in the Gospel and the Social Teachings of the Catholic Church. Faithful to the traditions of St. Francis of Assisi and St. Vincent de Paul, we provide a place of welcome and support for human and spiritual well-being for our sisters and brothers in need.

“I felt like I was being treated like a princess.  It was just very calming and relaxing.  The nice warm water and massage felt wonderful.  It just made me feel like a human, more human.”

The Fr. Virgil Cordano Center opened in January 2019.  During 2019, the following occurred in our community:

8 Members obtained full-time employment - Members receive guidance applying for jobs and creating a resume. They are able to use the Center's computer for job searches. Members also receive donated bus tokens to get to work or job interviews.

9 Members were housed - FVCC helps members obtain section 8 vouchers. Having a mailing address allows members to remain on waiting lists for housing.

26 Members signed up for a mailing address at the Center - Having a physical mailing address enables members to receive identification cards and important documents from Social Services.

243 Members signed up for the Companionship Club - The Center offers free Companionship Club membership to our guests who agree to follow the Center's simple published guidelines, including treating each individual with integrity and respect.

720 Meals were served throughout the year - Members enjoy quality meals donated by Lazy Acres, Panera, and Trader Joe's. The Center partners with SBC Food Rescue and People Assisting the Homeless (PATH) to receive donated food every week.
