At the Father Virgil Cordano Center, something as simple as a haircut is changing lives.
In a recent feature by KEYT News Channel 3-12, Sister Oanh Tran of St. Vincent’s Santa Barbara shares how her unique background in healthcare and cosmetology allows her to serve Santa Barbara’s unhoused community in a deeply personal way.
Each week, she provides nearly 30 haircuts to individuals visiting the center—offering more than just grooming. For many, it’s a moment of dignity, confidence, and connection.
Clients describe the experience as transformative. A haircut becomes more than a service—it’s a reminder that they are seen, valued, and cared for.
Through small, consistent acts of compassion, Sister Oanh and the team at the Father Virgil Cordano Center continue to create a space of hope and belonging for those who need it most.
