FR. VIRGIL CORDANO CENTER HELPS PROCESS APPLICATIONS FOR NEW HOUSING IN SANTA BARBARA

Santa Barbara, CA | KEYT NewsChannel 3 & 12 | June 30th, 2023 – Construction of a housing project in downtown Santa Barbara is almost finished. The new Vera Cruz Village is already attracting dozens of applicants. Directors at the Father Virgil Cordano Center, a collaborative ministry in Santa Barbara, are helping applicants with the paperwork. The organization recruited volunteers who are computer literate to help submit the applications. Volunteers at the center said they’re still processing applications for the new complex. Located on East Cota Street near Dune Coffee, Vera Cruz Village will bring 28 apartments to the city. The goal of the property is to help those at risk of homelessness including seniors secure affordable housing. “Now we’re waiting to see if some of our folks are the lucky residents when it opens,” said program director Debbie McQuade of the Father Virgil Cordano Center.
